Open Meet General Guidance

General Guidance Notes

Swimmers should aim to arrive at the venue and report to the team manager/coach 15 minutes before the first warm-up for that session so we can check everyone is here and make any withdrawals. This also gives them time to complete pre-pool warm-up exercises, particularly important in cold weather!

If swimmers are running late and/or not swimming in a session they have entered please can they text 07483841206 before the start time for the warm-up (preferably sooner) so we know a swimmer won't be attending and don't have to ring around to find this out or end up withdrawing them and then they turn up. Alternatively use the WhatsApp group set up for that particular event.

Swimmers should stay with the team once they have checked in and will only be allowed to visit parents at a suitable point during the session, in the break between sessions and once they have finished their swims and been given permission to leave.

Swimmers should come with suitable poolside footwear, a spare towel, warm club kit, a club swim hat, suitable snacks/food if there for more than one session and at least one litre of drink per hour at the pool. All swimmers representing the club should be wearing club kit (a club top at least). If they don't have club kit, a plain navy blue top is preferred and ideally they should buy a club top.

Swimmers leaving the poolside at any point for marshalling and/or to see parents should be wearing footwear and be dressed in suitable warm clothing (preferably club kit).

Volunteers

All events like this rely heavily on volunteers in order for them to take place, and therefore your child to compete. The club have to provide suitably qualified team managers to help look after the team, and should also be supporting the competition with suitably qualified officials (those in white). Please do consider whether this is something you would be able to help with and let us know if you can.
